Artist's Description
Her Story
24x36x1.5
We’ve been wounded
But it’s not like we haven’t been hurt before
We come from a long lineage of pain.
Of suffering
History shows this
His story, chapter after chapter
Collectively and personally
The story remains the same
His story
But this day. THIS day.
THIS DAY!
Will be her story. Their story.
It’s inevitable
Because she creates. She is ALIVE.
She bends, and she withers and she even
Breaks
But she is ALIVE
She is a creator
A re-creator
Of herself
Over and over and over and over
Again
And the scars
They thicken with strength
They soften
As they stretch
They cover her
Like a blanket warm
They protect her
Like an invisible armor
They remind her
That she grows when wounded
We HAVE been wounded.
And through this suffering
We create anew
We comfort and hold
