This painting is the culmination of multiple layers and textures. This was what I call a true "hands on" piece, meaning there was a lot of work other than brush work. Sanding, blending, layering... all played a role in the creation of this work. Theresa Johnson is a wife, mother, artist, and writer. She and her husband David, photographer and owner of Star Prairie Gallery, live in Wisconsin where they enjoy spending time with their family. Theresa, artist and owner of Star Prairie Studio, spent years working as a business analyst for the State of Minnesota before becoming disabled in 2009 by Lupus, Sjogren’s Syndrome and Rheumatoid Arthritis . Her writings speak to life lived with a chronic and incurable disease. Her paintings represent that journey, often times exploding with energy and color, symbolizing qualities such as beauty, strength, vulnerability and grace.
