Artist's Description

I started this painting this spring just as my hostas were coming up. I did not set out to paint something that looked my hostas. I actually had intended to do something completely abstract, but I must have been inspired by all the beauty in my gardens because this is what came of it. The colors are very soft.This picture of the original was taken out in the sunlight. Indoors, the picture is much more subdued with unbleached titanium white as the base. If you are at all interested in the original, I have numerous pictures of this painting in various lighting. Please feel free to email me if you are interested in seeing them. Also, if you are interested in buying a print in the lighter tones, I can upload a different picture than this one.
I really like the depth and texture to this one. The leaves appear to be coming right off the canvas. And in reality, they actually are. The technique I used was with a very thick modeling paste and they held their form really well. This painti...

Theresa, artist and owner of Star Prairie Studio, spent years working as a business analyst for the State of Minnesota before becoming disabled in 2009 by Lupus, Sjogren’s Syndrome and Rheumatoid Arthritis .
